Ferex Group is the continuation of a story that began long before the company was founded. Today, Ferex Group brings together a global network and long-established relationships with leading partners and major industrial groups in Türkiye, supporting international trade and industrial projects across global markets.

My family’s connection with mining and industry dates back to 1957, when my grandfather, Necati AKIN, became Türkiye’s first private iron ore miner in Divriği, Sivas—one of the country’s historic mining regions. From supplying Türkiye’s leading iron and steel producers, including Kardemir, Erdemir and İsdemir, to building international relationships with industrial groups such as Mannesmann and ILVA, our family learned that commodities are never simply cargo. They are the foundation upon which industries, communities and lasting partnerships are built.

I have had the privilege of carrying this heritage forward through more than twenty-five years in mining, industrial raw materials and international trade. During my time leading the mining enterprise Ferrocom Madencilik San. Tic. A.Ş., prior to its acquisition in 2013 by Demir Export, a Koç Holding company, I worked alongside miners, engineers, logistics professionals, financial institutions and major industrial organisations across Türkiye and international markets, including companies such as ArcelorMittal, Sinosteel Corporation and JFE Steel Corporation, as well as other major industrial enterprises of comparable scale across a diverse range of sectors.

Having overseen multi-billion-dollar commercial flows across international operations and a diverse range of industrial projects, I have learned that scale demands far more than ambition. It requires discipline, foresight, accountability and absolute command of execution. Sound judgement is formed not only in the boardroom, but also at the mine, the port and the production plant.
